ANATOMIC PATHOLOGY

Ipsum Diagnostics is an accredited, full-service Histology Laboratory with board-certified physicians in Anatomic Pathology and Dermatopathology. The division combines state-of-the-art technology with highly skilled personnel to deliver expert diagnoses.

The following are offered with routine histopathology as well as a comprehensive selection of specialty tests including immunohistochemical (IHC) and immunofluorescence:

 

Neuropathology: neoplasms, amyloid deposition diseases and neuropathies including proprietary testing for Small Fiber Neuropathy (SFN) with Epidermal Nerve Fiber Density (ENFD)

Dermatopathology: hair, skin and nails ranging from neoplasms and infections to inflammatory and autoimmune disease

Gastrointestinal Pathology: inflammatory and infectious diseases and neoplasms

Bone Pathology: osteomyelitis, metabolic and inflammatory disease and neoplasms

Our goal is to provide results within 72 hours while maintaining superior diagnostic quality and accuracy so you can provide your patients with the best care.

HENRY SKELTON, MD, FCAP

LABORATORY MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Dr. Skelton has practiced Dermatopathology for over 25 years. Dr. Skelton completed a general internship and then a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the Naval Hospital Portsmouth, Virginia. After completion of the residency, he served as head of cytology and the head of anatomic pathology at the same hospital. He did his dermatopathology fellowship at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology with Dr. James H Graham and Dr. Elson Helwig. He was then a consulting dermatopathologist and teaching staff at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. After that, he moved to the University of Alabama at Birmingham where was the professor of Pathology and served as co-director of the dermatopathology fellowship program. He is author or co-author of over 150 peer-reviewed publications and has made presentations at many local and national meetings. For the last 15 years, he has concentrated in full-time dermatopathology diagnosis. He has a special interest in alopecia and cutaneous tumors.
